Louise Friis new Artistic Director at Archauz

The Board of Directors of Koreografisk Center Archauz has appointed the choreographer and artistic director of Archauz U-Kompagniet, Louise Friis, the new interim artistic director of Archauz.

- On Thursday, the Board of Directors of Archauz unanimously appointed the choreographer and artistic director of Archauz U-Kompagniet Louise Friis the new interim artistic director. The Board regretfully accepted Jens Bjerregaards resignation. Jens Bjerregaard has always championed a high artistic quality and has been the force behind building Archauz up as a recognized cultural institution, says the Chair of the Archauz Board, Bo Steffensen.
 
- I am suprised and delighted that the Board has offered me the job as interim artistic director. My heart has always been in Aarhus and I look forward to continuing to work with dance, said Louise Friis.

- The Board and the new leadership together have the great challenge to stablize the finances at Archauz, which because of mismanagement otherwise would have resulted in an unacceptable deficit.

- In addition to an intense liquidity and budget management, Archauz needs sponsors for one of its financially demanding activities that Archauz wishes to continue, namely its international choreography competition, AICC, which has received more than 135 applications from around the globe.
 
- The new leadership and the Board must now undertake a serious effort to identify spending cuts and new sources of revenue.  Unfortunately, this will most likely mean that we will need to cancel or postpone some already-scheduled productions, says Bo Steffensen, though we want to emphasize that the international choreography competition AICC will remain as scheduled.  

- I have every expectation that Archauz will continue to meet the conditions of its agreement with Aarhus Kommune, both concerning this and coming seasons, says the new interim artistic director, Louise Friis.
